RISD Korea Annual Show 2009
My Suggestion for "Art as Conversation: What do YOU see?"
At Gallery JK Space in Itaewon, Seoul, Korea
October 2009
For this project, my curator helped me choose 2 of my works that could best accomplish my goal of asking my viewers to share what they SAW in my works. I hung up 2 cork boards for my audiences to share what they *each* saw in my paintings. The same two paintings were shared online --- on Cyworld and Facebook.
The comments I got from both the offline and online viewers me were totally amazing! The comments were wonderfully varied and full of imagination. Oftentimes, they revealed what each of their personalities *tend to* think more about. :-)
(I'll try and update this post with some of their comments at some later date...)

Art as Conversation: What Do YOU See?
Ever since I learned a little bit about Post-Modernism in paintings, I began to wonder about the functions and roles that art could or should take.
After some pondering, all I could come up with *honesty* was that art could help people talk about their differences without having to contradict one another.
Well, so here's my question -
What do YOU see in each of the paintings here?
Share, share! It is your interaction that makes my paintings come alive :-)

Exhibit at Gallery Godo
.jpg)
OK. It was a bit of a cheat-cheat; it was an open door exhibition meaning the gallery didn't base the selection on fame, content, nor commerciality.
But nonetheless, it was my first exhibit - other than school ones. I'm glad that my Dad insisted we take a photo; I felt really embarrassed to take a photo with the gallery owner and his staff standing around.
This was January this year. It's September now. And I've been busy with grad school most of the past 6 months. Time to get moving again...
